2013 NFL Power Rankings Week 11

Did you hear that? That my friends was the sound of a bottle of champagne popping. Denver put and end to the Kansas City Chiefs bid for a perfect season and that means the members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins were able to officially pop the bottle. They will again remain the only team to run the full gamet unblemished. The Chiefs put up a fight in Denver but ultimately could not keep their magical run alive. They will, however, get another chance against those Broncos in less than two weeks at Arrowhead. The story might be a little different in KC. But alas, for now the Chiefs are no longer atop the rankings. There is a new king in town and I don't think you will have to ponder for too long before you can figure it out.

1. Denver Broncos (9-1) ~ They knocked off the last remaining undefeated team and now sit atop the AFC West. They won't be able to rest easy though. Their next two games are at New England and at Kansas City. (Last Week's Ranking 2)

2. Seattle Seahawks (10-1) ~ Seattle became the first team to hit double digit wins this season and now get an extra week off to prepare for a home meeting with the New Orleans Saints. That game could very well decide home field advantage in the NFC. (LWR 3)

3. Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) ~ KC lost its first game of the year two days ago and if the playoffs started today they would be the number five seed and start the playoffs on the road. Think about that for a minute. (LWR 1)

4. New Orleans Saints (8-2) ~ Earlier this season Marques Colston set the franchise record for receptions and this past Sunday he became the all-time leader in receiving yards as well. It isn't a bad life when number nine is throwing the ball your way. (LWR 4)

5. Carolina Panthers (7-3) ~ I watched Monday night's game in its entirety and I have to say that Cam Newton's 74 yard run to gain 14 yards was one of the more athletic plays I have ever seen. Oh, and NBC Sports' headline of :They're real and they're spectacular" was top notch. (LWR 6)

6. New England Patriots (7-3) ~ Maybe given a chance from the two-yard line the Patriots don't score and Carolina wins anwyay but that was absolutely 100% pass interference on the last play of the game. Tom Brady should have had one more shot. (LWR 5)

7. Indianapolis Colts (7-3) ~ It finally seems like Andrew Luck has figured things out with college teammate Coby Fleener. The tight end has 12 grabs over the last two games which account for a third of his catches all year. (LWR 8)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) ~ Andy Dalton was held to under 100 yards passing and threw multiple interceptions for the third straight game. If the Bengals are going to advance in the AFC playoffs this season they will need more from their signal caller. (LWR 10)

9. Chicago Bears (6-4) ~ Another start for Josh McCown and another win for the Bears. I'm starting to wonder if Jay Cutler goes back to starting once he is healthy. McCown has more than made his case for the job. (LWR 11)

10. San Francisco 49ers (6-4) ~ Speaking of struggling quarterbacks look no further than Colin Kaepernick. If you remove his week one outburst in which he threw for over 400 yards the young QB has thrown for over 200 yards in a game just once since then. That....well, that's bad no matter how you look at it. (LWR 7)

11. Detroit Lions (6-4) ~ At halftime Calvin Johnson had six catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns. At the end of the game Calvin Johnson had six catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns. (LWR 9)

12. Philadelphia Eagles (6-5) ~ The Eagles won a home game for the first time since I was 28 years old. I turned 30 last month. Now that's a drought. (LWR 13)

13. Arizona Cardinals (6-4) ~ Arizona may be 6-4 but their 0-3 division record will most likely keep them from reaching the postseason this year. (LWR 15)

14. Green Bay Packers (5-5) ~ Aaron Rodgers will sit again this week and if the Pack continue on their slide he may as well take the rest of the year off. (LWR 14)

15. Dallas Cowboys (5-5) ~ A week ago people thought Dallas would win the weak NFC East. A loss this week to the New York Giants leaves them tied with a team that started the year 0-6. Almost unthinkable isn't it? (LWR 16)

16. New York Jets (5-5) ~ Geno Smith completed a third of his passes, was sacked four times and threw three interceptions and zero touchdowns. He is now, officially, a New York Jets quarterback. (LWR 12)

17. Miami Dolphins (5-5) ~ I'm not really sure the Dolphins should be ranked this high but everyone else around them is losing and they won. That counts for something in a weekly poll I suppose. (LWR 20)

18. San Diego Chargers (4-6) ~ They went on the road and Philip Rivers threw for nearly 300 yards, they had more than 100 yards rushing from Ryan Matthews, they gave up only 20 points and they still lost. That's got to be discouraging. (LWR 17)

19. St. Louis Rams (4-6) ~ I can't put my finger on it but I have this weird feeling that the Rams are going to upset the Bears this week. I feel it in my bones. Mark it down. (LWR 22)

20. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6) ~ Ben Roethlisberger threw for 350 yards or more and four touchdowns for the second time in three weeks. They dug themselves a pretty big hole to start the year. Will it be too little too late? Probably. (LWR 23)

21. New York Giants (4-6) ~ The Giants also dug themselves into a huge hole this year, but unlike the Steelers, the NFC East is still within reach. I have to believe that there are Giants players who would not have thought that a month ago. (LWR 24)

22. Cleveland Browns (4-6) ~ Cleveland gave up a staggering 31 points in the second quarter. They led the game 13-0 after one before it got out of hand. (LWR 18)

23. Baltimore Ravens (4-6) ~ I should have seen this coming. Ray Rice had his first 100-yard rushing day of the year and found the end zone. It was the first time all year I sat him in fantasy. Sigh. (LWR 19)

24. Tennessee Titans (4-6) ~ Tennesse started the year 3-1 and looked like they could challenge in the AFC South. Things hav fallen apart since then as the team has lost five of their last six to fall out of the playoff picture. (LWR 21)

25. Buffalo Bills (4-7) ~ The Bills defense harassed Geno Smith and the Jets all day en route to the blowout victory. At least it gave Bills fans a reason to smile this year. (LWR 26)

26. Oakland Raiders (4-6) ~ West Scranton's own Matt McGloin threw for three touchdowns in his first NFL start and the Raiders won their first game on the road this season. Hat's off to ya Matty. (LWR 27)

27. Washington Redskins (3-7) ~ They nearly came back from a 24-point deficit which would have been the largest in team history. Then RGIII threw a horrendous interception in the end zone to seal it. Thanks RGIII. (LWR 25)

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8) ~ Don't look now but the Bucs have won two in a row and were led by someone named Bobby Rainey who scored three touchdowns. He should be the fansty waiver wire add of the week. (LWR 31)

29. Houston Texans (2-8) ~ Case Keenum was pulled, Andre Johnson walked off the field with a minute left in the game. Things are a mess in Houston. Please averrt your eyes. (LWR 29)

30. Atlanta Falcons (2-8) ~ Six more games. Tony Gonzalez has seix more games until retirement. (LWR 28)

31. Minnesota Vikings (2-8) ~ The Vikings season has long been over but with a win this week in Lambeau they might be able to put the finish touches on the Packers' season which should give Vikes fans something to cheer about. (LWR 30)

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9) ~ If they lose out the number one pick is all theirs. (LWR 32)
