2013 NFL Power Rankings Week 4

Four weeks of rankings means four weeks in the top spot for the Denver Broncos. After a 52-20 beatdown of my Philadelphia Eagles the Broncos solidified their spot atop the rankings even more than I thought they could. Kudos Denver. So far the Broncos are stampeding the competition and it isn't even close. There have been some Indianpolis Colts teams in the past that started hot with Manning but not this hot. With 16 touchdowns and zero interceptions Manning is off to the best start in league history. Not since 1980. Not since the merger. Since ever. Next up on the chopping block? The Dallas Cowboys. Is there any team that deserves an ass whooping more than them? I mean, c'mon. They are the New York Yankees of the NFL: you love them or hate them. Denver's spot is solidified but how does the rest of the league shape up after the latest slate of games?

1. Denver Broncos (4-0) ~ Is there really anything else I need to say here? I didn't think so. (Last Week's Ranking 1)

2. Seattle Seahawks (4-0) ~ Don't call it a comeback. OK, wait. Call it exactly that. Seattle rallied from 17 points down on the road to snatch victory away from the Houston Texans. Richard Sherman should be sending a nice gift basket Matt Schaub's way. (LWR 2)

3. New Orleans Saints (4-0) ~ Drew Brees and the Saints dismantled the undefeated Miami Dolphins Monday night and start the year 4-0 to flip the script on 2012's 0-4 start A big reason for that is obviously Sean Payton patrolling the sidelines but how about Rob Ryan and the defense? Through four games this year they have allowed 75 fewer points than they did in 2012. That is a turnaround. (LWR 3)

4. New England Patriots (4-0) ~ A beatdown in Atlanta and a vintage Tom Brady performance. With Rob Gronkowsi possibly set to return this week things are looking up for the Pats offense. (LWR 4)

5. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) ~ All hail Andy Reid and the mighty Chiefs. The defense is swarming, the special teams are scoring TD's and Alex Smith is managing the game. This KC squad has the look of a playoff team. (LWR 8)

6. Chicago Bears (3-1) ~ OK, so they got absolutely spanked in Detroit. I am going to give them a pass because I believe in this team but if they lay another egg they will tumble. Mark my words they will tumble. (LWR 6)

7. Indianapolis Colts (3-1) ~ Who doesn't love playing the Jacksonville Jaguars? A 37-3 shellacking in Florida was just the kind of game to keep the Colts pumped up for their showdown with Seattle this weekend. (LWR 11)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) ~ Like the Bears I am giving the Bengals a pass on their stinker in Cleveland. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. That's how that goes, right? (LWR 6)

9. Miami Dolphins (3-1) ~ Not so fast there Miami.The 3-0 start was impressive with wins over the Colts and Falcons but a Monday night game in New Orleans against a veteran team was too much to handle. The jury is still out for me on this squad. (LWR 7)

10. San Francisco 49ers (2-2) ~ Did yyou forget they played last week? I did. That Thursday night demolition of the St. Louis Rams was, in my defense, quite forgettable. (LWR 12)

11. Detroit Lions (3-1) ~ A win this week in Lambeau would keep the Lions in first place and put them at 3-0 in the division a year after going 0-6 against the NFC North. (LWR 16)

12. Houston Texans (2-2) ~ People in Houston are burning Schaub's jersey after that costly pick-six on Sunday. This isn't LeBron leaving Cleveland but this Texans team has been shaky at best so far this year. (LWR 9)

13. Green Bay Packers (1-2) ~ The early bye came at a good time to help the Pack regroup after struggling out of the gate. A huge home game against the Lions is on deck. (LWR 13)

14. Baltimore Ravens (2-2) ~ Joe Flacco and his five (FIVE!) interceptions against the Buffalo Bills can kiss my ass since that game knocked me out of my Last Man Standing pool. Damn you Flacco! (LWR 10)

15. Tennessee Titans (3-1) ~ Yes, the Titans are 3-1 but the loss of signal-caller Jake Locker for the next month or two might do this team in. Chris Johnson will have to return to form if the Titans want to keep up their surprising winning ways. (LWR 17)

16. Atlanta Falcons (1-3) ~ My Super Bowl runner-up pick is looking anything but super so far. Injuries to Steven Jackson and Roddy White have been too much to overcome thus far. (LWR 14)

17. San Diego Chargers (2-2) ~ Well, they are 2-0 against the terrible NFC East and 0-2 against everyone else. Considering they only have to more games against the NFC East they might want to try and beat someone from another division. (LWR 21)

18. Dallas Cowboys (2-2) ~ With Denver coming to town the 'Boys are potentially looking at a 2-3 record after this week which will still be good enough for first place in the aforementioned terrible NFC East. (LWR 15)

19. Buffalo Bills (2-2) ~ Last week they lost to the Jets. This week they took down the defending champs. Someone explain this to me. (LWR 20)

20. Carolina Panthers (1-2) ~ Like Green Bay the Panthers also needed the bye early on to regroup from a shaky starrt. Next up is a winnable game in Arizona. (LWR 22)

21. Arizona Cardinals (2-2) ~ They barely escaped Tampa Bay with a 13-10 victory over a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut and a team that is in turmoil. Chalk this one up in the lucky column. (LWR 24)

22. Cleveland Browns (2-2) ~ Remember when everyone knew the Browns were going to tank the season when they traded away Trent Richardson? Yeah, about that...(LWR 26)

23. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) ~ Still winless in America this season the Vikes looked better with Matt Cassel under center. I know the job is Christian Ponder's but it shouldn't be. Not saying it should be Cassel's either but it shouldn't be Ponder;s. (LWR 25)

24. New York Jets (2-2) ~ It doesn't seem to matter who is under center for the Jets because the turnovers will keep coming. Geno Smith accounted for four of them against the Titans. (LWR 23)

25. St. Louis Rams (1-3) ~ OK, Rams. Listen up. The Jaguars are coming to town. This is a team you can beat. Now, go resemble a football team and win! (LWR 19)

26. Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) ~ Please, please please don't ruin my birthday weekend with a loss to the pathetic New York Giants this weekend. Pretty please? (LWR 18)

27. Washington Redskins (1-3) ~ Their defense sure does like to dig them into a hole don't they? This time RGIII had enough in the tank to grab the victory in Oakland. Not much of a victory but a win is a win. (LWR 27)

28. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-4) ~ I saw something online where the fisherman from the State Farm commercials had a "first win of 2013) on the end of his fishing pole with a Steeler trying to jump and grab it. To say I was amused is an understatement. (LWR 28)

29. Oakland Raiders (1-3) ~ Matt Flynn had that one stellar game as a Packer a few years ago that earned him a lot of money. He hasn't done anything positive since. (LWR 30)

30. New York Giants (0-4) ~ I honestly don't know how it can get worse from here. I truly don't see it. (LWR 29)

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-4) ~ More fallout from the Josh Freeman saga. Rumor has it he has asked for his outright release. My how quickly things can change. (LWR 31)

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) ~ The Jags have scored an underwhelming 31 points through four games so far for an ugly 7.75 average. That, well, that's just plain bad kids. (LWR 32)
