2013 NFL Power Rankings Week 7

Updated on October 23, 2013

NFL Power Ranks Week 7

And then there was one. The Kansas City Chiefs are your last remaining undefeated team this year. They are also the first team in NFL history to start 7-0 after finishing the previous season with the worst record in the league. The Chiefs have Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning's former team to thank for the honor after the Denver Broncos went down in defeat Sunday night. What a game. I only wish I could have stayed up long enough to see it in full. And with that, there is a new king atop the rankings for the firrst time. Enjoy it KC. You deserve it.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (7-0) ~ Who knew that the only thing standing between the 1972 Dolphins and their champagne would be the Kansas City Chiefs? I'm guessing nobody outside of KC, that's for sure. (Last Week's Ranking 2)

2. Denver Broncos (6-1) ~ Ok, sure they lost. I still think this is the team that will hoist the Lombardi trophy when all is said and done. Plus, losing a close road game against a good Indy squad with all the hoopla about Peyton returning to town? I'm not going to dock them that much for this one. (LWR 1)

3. Seattle Seahawks (6-1) ~ Everyone knows that Seattle is nearly unbeatable at home but this 'Hawks team is now 3-1 on the road. This team looks good. Real good. (LWR 4)

4. New Orleans Saints (5-1) ~ The health status of Jimmy Graham is huge. Drew Brees' favorite target was lucky to have the bye week come at the right time. The Sain'ts high flying attack is weakened if he has to miss any time. (LWR 3)

5. Indianapolis Colts (4-2) ~ Denver and Seattle's record against Indy is 0-2. Their combined record against the rest of the NFL is 12-0. That said losing Reggie Wayne for the season is a huge loss. (LWR 7)

6. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) ~ Andy Dalton has thrown for 710 yards and six touchdowns in his last two meetings. He is really coming into his own in his third year in the league. (LWR 6)

7. San Francisco 49ers (5-2) ~ The Niners are rolling and are rewarded with a cupcake matchup against the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars next week. Win number five in a row is all but assured. (LWR 8)

8. New England Patriots (5-2) ~ I don't know what to make of the call that ultimately cost the Pats the game this weekend. It reminded me of that Monday night affair between the Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers where :leaping" was called. Talk about a head scratcher. (LWR 5)

9. Green Bay Packers (4-2) ~ Someone named Jarrett Boykin led the Pack with eight catches for over 100 yards and a score this past weekend. You wanna discuss wide receiver depth in Green Bay? They certainlly need it with the losses of Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jermichael Finley among others. (LWR 10)

10. Detroit Lions (4-3) ~ They lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer (does that only work in basketball?) to a real good Cincy squad. They will be tested again next week agasint a good Dallas squad. They can't afford to fall another game behind Green Bay. (LWR 11)

11. Dallas Cowboys (4-3) ~ Ladies and gentlemen your NFC East division leaders. They are the only team so far to slow down the Philadelphia Eagles offense holding them to a mere three points in Philly on Sunday. All that without DeMarcus Ware. That is putting the D in Dallas. (LWR 14)

12. San Diego Chargers (4-3) ~ After fumbling 13 times last year Philip Rivers has yet to fumble in 2013. That is a big reason the Chargers are where they are. (LWR 16)

13. Baltimore Ravens (3-4) ~ Ray Rice hasn't topped 75 rushing yards in a game this season and has rushed for an average of better than 3.0 YPC only once, in a game in which he had five carries for 17 yards. (LWR 13)

14. Chicago Bears (4-3) ~ I held out hope that they would turn it around. Now with the losses of Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs I have to believe the Bears are doomed. Doomed I tell you! (LWR 9)

15. Miami Dolphins (3-3) ~ Trouble on South Beach. The Dolphins have lost three straight since their 3-0 start and if they don't turn things around quickly the sports world is going to shift to the Miami Heat in Florida. (LWR 12)

16. Tennessee Titans (3-4) ~ Jake Locker is back which should help the offense. Chris Johnson is showing up in the passing game but is still non-existent running the ball out of the backfield. (LWR 15)

17. New York Jets (4-3) ~ I cant believe I live in a world in which Geno Smith has bested Tom Brady. Does....not.....compute....*Kablooie* (LWR 22)

18. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) ~ With a concussed Nick Foles and a hamstrung Michael Vick the Eagles may have to turn to rookie Matt Barkley for the start this weekend in a winnable home matchup against the New York Giants. (LWR 17)

19. Atlanta Falcons (2-4) ~ Atlanta got the win they needed to have and now travel to Arizona where another win awaits. If they get back to 3-4 they have a shot. The wiggle room is all but gone for the Falcons. (LWR 23)

20. Houston Texans (2-5) ~ Hats off to Case Keenum as he nearly pulled off the road upset of the undefeated Chiefs. Now the wait is on to see who will be under center next week for the Texans. (LWR 18)

21. Cleveland Browns (3-4) ~ A lot of people are talking about how smart Cleveland was for trading Trent Richardson. I ask those people, where is Cleveland's run game without him? (LWR 19)

22. Carolina Panthers (3-3) ~ The Panthers get another cupcake game against the Bucs Thursday night which should put them back over .500. There could very well be some fight in these cats. (LWR 24)

23. Buffalo Bills (3-4) ~ They have no quarterback, their star running back has been MIA most of the year and their top receiving threat has been bothered by a back injury. How is it then that the Bills continue to win games? (LWR 25)

24. Arizona Cardinals (3-4) ~ Still my pick to give the Jags their first and only win of the year. (LWR 20)

25. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) ~ That's two in a row for Steel City and the ground game seems to be rounding into thspe with LeVeon Bell toting the rock. The 0-4 start will probably prove to be too big a hole to climb out of but the Steelrs are showing signs of life. (LWR 26)

26. St. Louis Rams (3-4) ~ The loss of Sam Bradford for the year all but seals the Rams' fate. Now they have to wonder if Bradford is the quarterback of the future. (LWR 21)

27. Washington Redskins (2-4) ~ They gave up 41 at home to the Chicago Bears and won. I don't even know how that is possible. (LWR 29)

28. Oakland Raiders (2-4) ~ Oakland's struggling offensive line is not going to be happy seeing a hungry Steelers defense coming in with confidence next week. Nope. Not gonna like that. (LWR 27)

29. New York Giants (1-6) ~ You can put it on the booooooaaaarrrrd YES! The Giants finally got off the schnide which I find almost as loathesome as listening to Hawk Harrelson call a ballgame. (LWR 31)

30. Minnesota Vikings (1-5) ~ All this talk about trading Adrian Peterson needs to stop. Seriously. Make it stop. (LWR 28)

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-6) ~ They can't buy a win and now they may be without the muscle hampster for the rest of the season. At least they will get a good look at what Mike Glennon can bring to the show. (LWR 30)

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-7) ~ With Tampa and Jacksonville it must be tough being a football fan in Florida this year. (LWR 32)
